Bokeh Stories - Our Client's Story Line /

Don’t you love that it’s finally getting warmer? We could finally get out of our house and play outside after dinner while it’s still bright. Wesley loves balls – basketball, football, tennis balls, baseball, car wheels, and the list goes on. Among all these balls, basketball is his favorite. He has a little basketball goal, but he prefers to use the real hoop in our driveway. Audrey has her own basketball too. Both of them like daddy lifting them up to slam dunk. Oh, while daddy’s doing “leftover” yardwork, they like to help too! We are teaching them to share the household chores and make it fun while they are doing it. It started getting dark and the moon is out. Wesley used to call the moon a ball a...

If you read the Raising Hope Gala Portrait post, you know that this the second story of this event. The 21st Annual Raising Hope Gala was hosted in Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. It is a fundraising event to support  The Philippine Medical Society of Greater Kansas City‘s upcoming mission of providing health care procedures and necessities to those who don’t have access to basic medical services. All the proceeds goes to covering the cost of sending personnel as well as logistics for sending supplies. My primary physician Dr. Christine Nedeau invite Billy and I to this event and learn more about what they do. The Philippine Medical Society of Greater Kansas City is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The current president is Dr. Yvonne Spurlock. She is the older sister of...

Happy Easter everyone! This is our first time going to an Easter egg hunt. There’re lots of egg hunts in the Kanas City area, but we went to our little town’s annual egg hunt event. The entire town of Liberty were there! Wesley was not interested at all when he saw the playground, so daddy had to watch him climbing and sliding. Audrey had her first egg hunt adventure, which really turned into egg picking! Although the city’s park and recreation department divided the kids into 4 age groups, there were literally eggs everywhere in the park. I took Audrey to the 3-5 year old group. Eggs are more spreaded out than the 0-2 year old group. We got about 15 eggs and there was no limit to the amount...

Audrey and Wesley are the priority #1 in my life. It’s tough to keep everything balanced in life, so photography is great outlet for work life balance. This is really about prioritizing tasks and finding the time to do it. If I don’t do it, then I don’t get to do it. Recently, I discovered this organizing app called Wunderlist. Wunderlist is the easiest way to manage and share your to-do lists. I can make a category of to-do and add tasks in it. Under each task, I could even add sub-tasks. You can download or access Wunderlist through Apple app store, Chrome web store, Google Play, or its website. If you have an iPhone, iPad, and Macbook, it will sync your data on all your devices. Ever since I...

Remember my Project 10×12 – October 2013 last October’s Project 10×12? We went to Elms resort’s garden again last weekend. It’s still early in the spring. There’re no leaves on the tree, but it’s definitely getting warmer. We are planning a few big trips this year, so we will practice taking Audrey and Wesley out more to get them “trained”. Due to the extreme weather in Kansas City, either freezing cold winter or super hot summer, plus the allergy season in the Spring. There’s really not that much days we could go out to enjoy the nice weather. I’m taking every bit of chance to take my kiddos out. Let them play and I could take pictures of them. Last time I brought my 24-70 when we spent a night in...

It was such an honor to be the official formal attire portrait photographer for the 21st Annual Raising Hope Gala for The Philippine Medical Society of Greater Kansas City. Raising Hope Gala is a fundraising event to support PMSGKC’s upcoming mission of providing health care procedures and necessities to those who don’t have access to basic medical services. All the proceeds goes to covering the cost of sending personnel as well as logistics for sending supplies. This is my first time setting up for formal attire portraits. All of my backdrops are for kids and they are too small for formal portraits. I was not given a lot of notice and ran out of time ordering online. I do not want to use seamless paper for formal portraits. One of...

There is a famous quote about friendshipfrom Lun Yu, translated as “Analects of Confucius” – What a pleasure to have a friend come from afar! I have moved so many times since childhood. I treasure all the friends I made throughout the years. Although I don’t see them much, I still keep in touch with them. If they are in town, I will treat them the best I can to make them feel home. Felicia and I met at the first day of our current day job. We were in the same start group and went through the same training program for 3 months. She was assigned to a project in UK after 6 months and then relocated to work in Australia. Recently she had the opportunity to attend a conference...

I have spent the last two months working on my website. The bokehstory.com has a new homepage design, which is more user friendly and optimized to view from all devices. I also added a few pages under info and clients menu. There will be a full library for all bokeh story clients to access any information you need, ranging from model release, print release, contracts, client guide, to product catalog. I am working hard to provide the best experience for all my clients. Besides business revamping, I also invested all the studio gears including three studio strobes, different softboxes, light stands, speedlight, triggers, backdrops, and backdrop stands for a full studio. Although I loved my natural light studio from last year, the time I could work was still limited due...

National Macaroni Kid invites their top Publications to host a special day for Moms and babies 3 and under. Happy Valentine’s Day! One of my new year’s resolution for 2014 is to spend more time with my Irish twins Audrey and Wesley. They are the reason why I started Bokeh Story. I had a Valentine’s day studio mini sessions last year and it was a big success. This year I decided not to offer any mini sessions on Valentine’s Day. Instead, I spent a fun day with the kids in my studio. Ever since I started renting a studio in Kansas City downtown last summer, Audrey has been begging me to go to “downtown” to take pictures. I have a natural light studio at home and it is in our basement. She asked if she could go to the “downtown” in our basement. Her wish is granted. I set...
