Project 10×12 – January 2013 | Kansas City Lifestyle Photographer

January 31, 2013

This is my very first real blog post about me as a photographer. Starting from January I will have a Project 10×12 post every month this year. This was inspired by a photography momma group I am in and I will post 10 personal photos of my life every month for 12 months! I normally do not post my personal photos to my facebook fan page and this project would be a great way for you to know me a little better.

I was amazed by Lauren Lemon, a Los Angelas based creative portrait photographer. Her famous 365 photo project was so successful and was published into books. I’ve been wanting to do a photo project like this, but my current lifestyle just wouldn’t allow me to. Wondering why? Because I have a day job and two little kids 12 months apart. I work as a corporate interaction designer in the day and work on editing client photos after my kids go to bed at night. As of now I only take a very limited number of photo sessions each month and it has to be in the weekends. I do think that my design job really plays a big part of coming up ideas for every photo session because I do lots of story boarding and brainstorming in the day. Anyway, I just don’t have time to do a 365 project and I will stick with this wonderful 10×12 project! Thanks to Melissa Demers from Lissarie Photography for pushing us going forward!

My Irish twins Audrey is 27 months and Wesley is 15 months. They (plus my husband) are the most important part of my life. Audrey and Wesley are the reason why I started Bokeh Story Photos. So here is my first 10 photos of this year. The two pictures on the first row and second on the second row were taken in my basement, which is my new studio now! The kids were looking at the snow outside right after New Year’s day. I picked up my camera when I saw Wesley leaning on Audrey. It was just too sweet! Then they switched places and starting cuddling! I guess that’s the best part of siblings being this close in age! Although I am really tired and sometimes exhausted as a working mom, but it’s totally worth it when I see my kids are the best friends!

In all these 10 photos, none of them were really dressed up to take photos. They are all just candid moments of my kiddos and this is my favorite part of photography. It tells stories – the reason why Bokeh Story was born.

I am really lucky to find a group of photographers whom support each other. Please check out the 10×12 project by Amanda Becker from Amanda Becker Photography.
